Thank you for your hard work one pace team!!!! Can’t wait for wano !!
Wano 01 is out!
https://onepace.net/?episode=518
It has been decided that One Pace will use the occasional piece of filler now at the discretion of the editors/ qcs. This will happen rarely for the scenes that benefit the quality of our episodes yet don’t waste a-lot of time and ruin the manga’s pacing. That being said we won’t be taking requests, filler is still going to remain rare so your favourites scenes may or may not be cut. We are simply acknowledging that sometimes an adaption can outshine it’s source material while still being for the most part loyal. We aim to satisfy both our manga loyalist fans and anime centric followers with this change. We hope to enjoy your continued support as the project continues to grow.

Filler is the devil. I can only understand leaving it in if it messes up a scene by taking it out, like by having music jump around
Sounds very reasonable. Thanks for the announcement & explanation, Feeso. And thanks One Pace team in general for the past few episodes.![]()
There'll surely be those who'll scorn the loss of purity that change brings, but if you ever needed to earn the right to exercise some editorial discretion, you don't anymore. Although I am curious as to what bits of filler prompted this change. Especially since, looking back on hundreds of episodes, I can only think of a mere two scenes that I thought were made worse by overzealous cutting.
Hopefully the zoro fight scene from the newest episode will make it.
No particular filler scene brought about this change, it's something that was being discussed for a while now. It's more the mere possibility that we'd automatically discard something that could improve the episodes, the lack of flexibility could be frustrating. There are certainly many older episodes we'd handle differently in terms of editing quality but the number of filler sequences in the grand scheme of things that will find a place in pace going forward will continue to be a small minority. More or less we'll still follow the manga's lead in 95% of circumstances, we're just giving ourselves some leighway to include filler that improves the pacing, spectacle, characterisation, context, medium changes, direction or atmosphere of an episode without wrecking the 2 chapter per episode pacing we usually aim for.
This is likely, but not just due to our new approach, the music that inter-cuts between Zoro's fight and Luffy's scene makes the scene impossible to remove. That being said if the music did allow us to remove it, this is the kind of scene that would likely be protected by the new approach as it's brief, a great spectacle action wise (kojima is amazing) and it doesn't hinder the episode's pacing. (it also adds flare from a direction standpoint). Overall decision will be made on a case by case basis but for the most part you can still count on pace to deliver a much faster paced version of the anime.

I made an account just for the sole purpose of asking this question; do you guys have any plans to re-edit the older episodes once you've finished adapting the series?
I think this is great.there are sometimes scenes which are filler but good,so why should they be deleted?I agree with the new approach, and I believe it will make the episodes even better.
The intention is to keep the same pacing. 95% of the time we'll probably still be treating filler as usual, only keeping it for the sake of music/ transitions. We're just keeping things open for flexibility for certain brief moments. We do not intend to ever let filler compromise the quality of the episode/ drag on. So please rest assured that we're still dedicated to improving the anime's pacing.
Yeah we're still working on older arcs between wano episodes. Eventually we'd like to cover the whole series but this is just a hobby so it'll probably take years.
Thanks for understanding! It's actually been amazing how much support we've seen for this decision. Hopefully we can deliver a better paced more manga loyal edit of the anime, without sacrificing the strengths of the adaption or quality. That way both manga loyalists and anime fanatics won't be alienated/
